Is anything for sale?
No.
Which character is really your favourite?
Best dragon species: Monstrous Nightmare.
Best character: It's nearly impossible to choose, but I think the closest I have to a top favourite character is Stoick.
Best pony... wait wrong section.

Isn't it a waste of time/money/space?
No, no, and no. Collecting is a hobby that makes me very happy, so that justifies it in my eyes. I'm moving into a house that will have a dedicated Dragon Den so space isn't an issue. As for money, well, that's entirely subjective. I personally think spending money on virtual game items is a waste of money, but I won't stop anyone doing that if they enjoy it. I enjoy my collection, and work hard for my money, so I'll do what I want with it.
I have an item you're missing, will you buy/trade for it?
Gimme all you got.
I have the cash.
I have the cash.
Do you collect the original books and/or rescue riders?
No, I will not collect either of those parts of the franchise. The original books are nice, and I might pick up the odd piece of merchandise - but only if it somehow relates to the movies, like the very first book that the film was inspired by. But I love the HTTYD movies, with all the characters specific to the movie universe. I'm not as into the books, though I respect them in their own right and appreciate that the HTTYD I know and love would not exist without them.
I don't even like to consider Rescue Riders as part of HTTYD. I think it's just DreamWorks trying to cash in on the popularity of preschool shows like Paw Patrol, and attached it to the Dragons name to make it more popular. It completely deviates from the the rules of the HTTYD universe. Additionally, Hiccup and Toothless are what make HTTYD, well, HTTYD. If they are not in it, I don't consider it part of the franchise. Hiccup nor Toothless are in Rescue Riders, therefore I do not consider Rescue Riders to be HTTYD.
The comparison I often use is that of My Little Pony and Equestria Girls. Equestria Girls is a spin-off series that features the regular pony characters, but as humans in an alternate dimension. Many collectors of MLP will ignore EQG because it's not part of the original, "true" series. That is how I see Rescue Riders.

why are some items in original packaging and some aren't?
Most collectors only keep their items with tags/boxes to keep their resale value. However, I have no plans to resell my collection - and HTTYD stuff seems to sell good no matter what anyway. I think taking them out makes them look much nicer on display and you get to appreciate their details more. Keeping the boxes makes it look like you've set up a shop in your room. However if I have no intention to use the item (like napkins or something) then I don't bother to open them. I do keep instructions and bagging though, just in case I need them.
If an item has a particularly nice box, then I tend to keep it. Likewise if it is an item that has packaging variants - then I tend to open my first one and keep the variants in packaging. I love appreciating, holding, and displaying figures too much to always keep them in their boxes. I think displays look more dynamic and interesting when there's lots of figures to look at that rather than a bunch of boxes lined up. Most toy packaging has generic stock art or a photo of the toy, so I see it as rather pointless to keep.
I always try to buy and keep tagged plush, however if a plush is really rare then I tend to buy it with or without tag, because owning the plush alone is most important and the tag is a perk. Sometimes, due to the flimsy nature of paper tags, they fall off. In that case I usually just store them somewhere.

Why is everything called "the hoard"?
Because in lots of stories and myths, dragons keep hoards of treasure. I don't literally have a hoard of dragons; I have a collection! Everything is tidy and organised (by shelf!), and I know every last piece of it. If even one Toothless-scribbled-scrap-of-paper went missing, I'd know!
Why is the site called "night Fury's Hoard" if Night Furies aren't your favourite?
I made this site before Defenders of Berk was even a thing - so back then there weren't many dragon species to choose from! Also Night Furies are the best known species of the franchise, so it made more sense. Calling the site "Monstrous Nightmare's Hoard" is quite obscure and also long. I must admit, since 2019 I have been VERY tempted to rename the site "Light Fury's Hoard", but my site is quite well known as it is, so I don't want to mess with it and confuse people.
Do you do pickups/middlemanning?
I live less than an hour away from Shrek's Adventure London, so I love using this opportunity to help people who live further away! Contact me to ask about pick up services. I also do middleman/proxy address shipping to my UK address, and regular store pickups. Just drop me a message to organise something!
How do you do your item count?
1 item = 1 count. Items that are packaged together, such as advent calendars and all their toys, or playsets, are counted as one item. Essentially, if you purchase it from the store once, it counts as one. A Playmobil box with all the toys inside is counted as one. Items that are bought individually, like mystery minis, are one per figure, as you have to buy them one at a time. Trading cards are counted as one per card. If someone has a set of 100 Pokemon cards, for example, they say they have a set of 100 cards, not a set of one! Stickers are counted individually only when they are not stuck in. Once stickers are stuck into an album, the album and stickers are counted as one since the stickers cannot be removed. Loose stickers are counted individually though, as they are individual items. I do not count duplicate items and only count an item once, e.g. I have five BaB Hookfang plush, but I only count him once, as it's one unique item and four duplicates.
