I'M RE-WRITING THIS TEXT BECAUSE OH MY GOD
OH MY GOOOOOSH
10 long years ago, I lost out on these figures on eBay (see the tragic story below, try not to cry), and I honestly thought I'd probably never ever see them again. Fast forward a decade, and I'm added to a group chat for HTTYD collectors. I didn't expect to participate much because I'm not really a social person, but man, there were so many awesome people I couldn't resist. Anyway long story short, we were sharing what items we wanted most. Of course I brought up these stupid flying toys, and how they'd frustrated me for 10 years. Then one member (and my hero after all this) found the whole set on some Mexican site in about 10 minutes! I was thoroughly put to shame, but quickly asked another friend to help me out in my time of need. She was able to get them for me, and posted them out. But the timing couldn't have been worse because it was RIGHT before the whole COVID-19 pandemic started. My parcel tracking got stuck and didn't update for months. I was devastated; I was SO close to finally getting my Ricolino set and I got tripped at the last hurdle! I could only hope they were put on a boat or something and not lost among all the confusion and delays. But one day, when I was expecting a totally different package, the delivery man handed it over!! Totally out the blue, nearly 3 months later, with no update on the tracking! But it's here!!! There were lots of super rare goodies inside, but of course my precious babies were my Ricolino... my holy grail of ten years. I couldn't believe it, and I'm so, so, so, so, SO, SO happy to have them! It feels so rewarding to finally have them after such a long wait and search, after so many years of not giving up... and best of all, I got them through the help of my friends! It was my friend who found them, and another friend who bought them and got them shipped to me, so without either of them I wouldn't have these babies and I'm so thankful and grateful to have such amazing friends who were willing to help me out! These are more than just plastic toys, they symbolize exactly why HTTYD is so special to me: the amazing friends I have made because of this franchise!
The toys themselves are also pretty neat - each set has a nicely-made dragon with a derpy squat Viking. There's a small button underneath the dragons to make the Vikings spin and take off!

OH MY GOD AT LAST
8 FRICKIN YEARS
Yes, it's taken 8 years to get one of these!!!!! Basically, 8 years ago, in 2010 when I first started collecting, someone sold some Ricolino toys on eBay. Ricolino is a Mexican brand that sells chocolates and stuff, and they did these little boxes that also had HTTYD toys in them. The auction was for the set of "flying" (spinning) toys - Hiccup/Toothless, Astrid/Stormfly, Snotlout/Hookfang, and Tuffnut/Belch and Barf. They were also selling the Ricolino phonecharms seen on my Clothing and Accessories page. Obviously I won the phonecharms, but I lost the auction for the toys. I searched every little corner of the internet looking for others, or at least some clues about their existence. I stumbled across a very old DeviantArt page that had some photos. Turns out, in addition to the spinny toys, there were also larger, plain figures of Hiccup and Astrid released (with some very simple articulation). For years and years I could never find these damn things for sale, but I was okay with that because at least I had the full set of phonecharms, which was nice. But then, this year (2018), I found Hiccup on eBay! YES!!!!!! Finally, I have one of them, and it was one I'd never even seen for sale before! I am beyond happy with him, and he's one of the most treasured and rare things in my collection!
In our glorious year of 2020, I FINALLY completed this set! With the help of the same friend who got me the flying toys, I now have Astrid to go with Hiccup! I can't believe I've not only complete this set, but ALL Ricolino sets!!! This is the most beautiful year of my life. A 10-year-old dream come true!

Launch and Soar
Size: 5-6 inches
Distribution: Worldwide
Manufacturer: Spin Master (2010)
Complete set: Yes 2/2
The title says soar, but these toys are anything but graceful flyers. They should be called the Launch N Watch-It-Veer-Wildy-Across-The-Room-Knocking-Over-A-Cup-In-The-Process-Because-It's-Surprisingly-Strong Toy.

Volcano Playset
Size: 8 inches (box), 1.5 inches (figure)
Distribution: US only
Manufacturer: Spin Master (2010)
I kept this mostly MIB since I wasn't too interested in it, but I at least wanted to see which dragon I got. I don't plan to collect them all, since Spin Master made the genius decision of releasing crappy random dragon toys, despite having several HTTYD species at the time. So I just wanted one to get the playset. Also I ended up getting a rare dragon, which is kinda cool. None of the dragons in this set are HTTYD dragons in any sense (not even semi-canon things like the games), though there's one that kinda has Deathgripper colours which is likely a coincidence.

Other
City of Heroes
Size: 1.4-1.8 inches (figures), 11 inches (tin)
Distribution: Portugal only
Manufacturer: Seri Jakala (2017)
Complete set: Yes 5/5
A friend and fellow collector had a few of these figures, but no one could work out the origins of them. But with a bit of research (and mainly help from a seller who listed the name of the set), I was able to find it out! Like most of Jakala's stuff, these were given out with purchases from special stores. Each figure is blind bagged, and basically like a mini LEGO figure. They're very derpy and prone to bad paint. Despite the HTTYD2 packaging and date, I class them as HTTYD1 merchandise because look at the figures! Those are their HTTYD1 designs. That makes a nice change, because we don't get much new HTTYD1 merchandise! The regular Toothless can sometimes have different eye paint, but the silver one always has the same.

These little gems are fairly rare, but very high quality. I love these figures a lot, especially the Nadder and Zippleback! Each one also comes with a neat fan booklet that I can't read.

Cake Decoration Set
Size: 1-4.5 inches
Distribution: US only
Manufacturer: DecoPac (2010)
You're meant to make a cake, then put these things on top and voila! Your own Berk!
I have since acquired a second one of these - it's the same figure as far as I can tell, but it comes with a plastic stand, a Gronckle ring, and a new sign! It's always fun finding old merch I didn't know about!

Restaurants
McDonald's Happy Meal Toys
Size: 1-3 inches
Distribution: Worldwide
Manufacturer: McDonald's (2010)
Complete set: Yes 8/8
Ah, Happy Meal Toys. The bread and butter of many toy collections. Thankfully, these are not too shabby for cheap little freebies. That Red Death there was my first ever piece of HTTYD merch! My best friend got it for me, so thank you! The toys themselves are basic, just wing movements, lights, and a couple of actions. In most countries they just came with simple instruction sheets, but in the UK they came with these cool cards! The cards have a Viking on the front and the matching dragon on the back, and inside are the instructions and a small activity.

Carl's Jr. Toys
Size: 4 inches
Distribution: US only
Manufacturer: CKE Restaurants (2010)
Complete set: No 3/4
I really don't know much about this toy or its set. I got it off eBay, thinking it was an interesting looking bootleg, but then when it arrived I researched its copyright and apparently CKE is CKE Restaurants; an actual thing. I presume this is their version of Happy Meal toys, but who knows. Who cares? The Night Fury spins!
UPDATE: I finally found out about this toy! This is from a run of Happy Meal rip offs from Carl's Jr. Here's a picture of the other toys in the set! It's taken 12 years, but I'm only missing one now!
